    COMPETITIVE EVENTS

The FBLA mission is to prepare students for successful careers in business through support for curriculum  development and innovative assessment tools. To help meet that charge, the FBLA Competitive Events Program has been developed and made available to local and state chapters for use in assessing students in the various knowledge, skills, and abilities that make up today's business education curriculum.

The California Awards Program, also known as competitive events, recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. FBLA competitive events also prepare students for successful careers in business by providing opportunities to apply classroom concepts in a workforce-simulated competitive environment, while fostering a bit of competitive spirit! The competitive event guidelines and competencies that follow were created for competitors, advisers, and judges.

FBLA members are encouraged to participate in the California Awards Program (CAP) for competition and recognition offered annually at the Section, State, and National Leadership Conferences. Membership dues must be paid in full in order to register for competition.
The California Awards Program (CAP) Committee oversees California FBLA Competitive Events. The CAP Committee meet annually to review the California Awards Program. Contact your Section Representative of the CAP Committee.

Please download and print out the CAFBLA Competitive Events Calendar to keep appraised of deadlines, etc. If competitors miss deadlines, their work will not be judged.

For Production Events (Skill Site Testing), in order to participate in the 2019-2020 year, membership dues must be PAID by December 13th or January 17th for all other events starting at the section conference, and March 1st for events starting at the State or National conference. 2019-2020 Membership Registration opens August 1, 2019. Registration for competition begins on December 2nd. Review the Competitive Events Calendar for the due dates of prejudged projects and other events. Membership must be paid and competitors registered in an Coevent in order for work to be judged. Failure to register for the event when submitting prejudged projects will forfeit participation in the event.

    Computer Events Chapter/Parents Contract
It is highly recommended to use a Competitive Events Parent Contract to keep parents aware of the costs of attending conferences to which Competitive Events is a major objective.
Use the link to get a copy of the Competitive Events Parent Contract and fill in your chapter information.
